Dagestan: seven Maidanskoe villagers put on wanted list on suspicion of aiding militants
Law enforcement bodies are searching for seven residents of the village of Maidanskoe, Untsukul District of Dagestan. They are suspected of aiding IAF members, said Imamutdin Kamilov, the deputy village head.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 6 the Untsukul District of Dagestan was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. Power agents blocked three villages, including Maidanskoe, where, according to their information, five suspected militants were killed; and on July 8 they killed two more. In Maidanskoe, law enforcers blew up eight houses, including the madrasa building.
Villagers also told about detention and beating up of the local Imam and the head of the village administration. Seven villagers, according to Kamilov, are kept in a SIZO (pre-trial prison) on suspicion of aiding IAF members.
On July 18, a folk gathering of Maidanskoe villagers took place with the presence of officials from the Untsukul District Administration, the district policeman, local elders and members of the village council.
"They discussed the situation in the village, as well as failures in the educational work with young villagers. Now in the village, in the headquarters set up in the local school, there are at least one hundred of law enforcers. They patrol the village at night. The situation is calm," said Kamilov.
