Ingushetia: GIBDD post distributes foodstuffs to drivers to break Ramadan fasting

A charitable action of distributing food parcels to motorists moving along the Federal Highway "Kavkaz" for breaking the fasting after the last days of Ramadan was launched on July 18 at the GIBDD (traffic police) post in Ingushetia, said Beslan Tsechoev, an advisor to the head of the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that from June 29 most of the Muslims from Southern Russia, including Ingushetia, began their Ramadan fasting. The action is initiated by the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

According to Tsechoev, during the first day of the action, volunteers managed to spread about a thousand such food packages. Within one hour of the action, the GIBDD post was passed by residents of Northern Caucasus, and the Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories.

The food package includes mineral water, dates, waffles and apples.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on June 27 the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov signed a decree on reducing the working hours for residents by one hour and a ban on sale of alcohol during the month of Ramadan. He also ordered the Ministry of Agriculture to prepare foodstuffs in the mosques located along the Federal Highway "Kavkaz" for spreading among drivers and passengers of transit transport in order to allow them to break the fasting.
