Evkurov: ready to petition even for Kebekov
Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the head of Ingushetia, said in his interview to Grigory Shvedov, the editor-in-chief of the "Caucasian Knot", that the most complicated situation in the fight against the armed underground is now in the Sunzha District of the republic.
"According to our data, a stable bandit grouping – some 15-17 persons – is operating there. Of course, we work with them; however, nevertheless, this district is most problematic," said the head of the republic.
He added in his comment on a decrease of the count of conflict victims in his republic registered in the recent four years that "the most odious figures have been either arrested and convicted, or liquidated."
According to statistics run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and data from other open sources, in 2010, Ingushetia had 326 conflict victims; and 2013 – 94 ones.
According to Evkurov, the above reduction in the count of victims was affected by the fact that 67 members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) (in 2013-2014) surrendered and passed through the adaptation commission; eight of them were convicted.
In Evkurov's opinion, now it is especially important to stop the help provided to militants by their relatives; however, it does not mean that people should reject their sons and brothers. The head of the republic said that he is ready to petition for militants, should the new Amir of the "Imarat Kavkaz" Abu-Mukhammad (Kebekov) bring his people out of the underground.
