Ukrainian authorities announce capturing 23 Russians, including natives of Chechnya, near Lugansk

In the evening on July 20, in the city of Lisichansk, Ukrainian militaries captured 23 Russian citizens, who defended the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), said the press service of the President of Ukraine; there are Chechen natives among the detainees.

According to the Ukrainian party, the LPR supporters were captured while trying to break out of the Lisichansk, besieged by Ukrainian troops.

"Under the order of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, the armoured column was defeated; three vehicles were destroyed; 23 militants were captured, including their wounded leader. Among the captives there are fighters of Chechen origin; all the IAF members are Russian citizens," says the press service of the head of Ukraine, as quoted by the UNN Ukrainian News Agency.

So far, no comments are available from the Russian party, in particular, the Ministry of Defence.
