Explosion occurs near the house of City Duma Speaker in Zheleznovodsk
As reported by a law enforcement source from the Stavropol Territory, last night, an attempt was made on the life of Ararat Dovmalov, the Speaker of the City Duma of the city of Zheleznovodsk. According to the source, the politician received a head injury from the explosion of presumably a grenade near his house.
The incident occurred on July 20 at about 11:30 p.m. Moscow time. The Speaker heard a sort of a clap in the yard of his house in Pervomaiskaya Street and went out to see what happened. When the man opened the gate, an explosion occurred.
Dovmalov received a brain injury, but his life is out of danger, said the above source, adding that law enforcers found fragments of an F-1 grenade at the scene, a detonator ring and a stretcher line, the ITAR-TASS reports.
Ararat Dovmalov was elected to the post of the City Duma of Zheleznovodsk in February this year, after his predecessor Vera Melnikova became the Mayor of the resort city, the "Stav News" Agency reports.
