In Volgograd, 40 persons rally in support of State Duma MP Nikolai Parshin
Today, Volgograd hosted an action in support of Nikolai Parshin, an MP of the Russian State Duma. The participants of the rally have treated the criminal case initiated against the first secretary of the Stalingrad Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), as "ordered".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 4 the Russian State Duma voted for deprivation of Nikolai Parshin, an MP from the CPRF faction, who is suspected of fraud, of his deputy immunity. Parshin himself links his prosecution with the election of Governor of the Volgograd Region, scheduled for September 14.
The today's action in Volgograd was attended by some 40 people.
Ivan Burov, a Communist and associated professor of the Volgograd Social-Pedagogical University, said in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he was sure that "the case against Parshin is a purely political order."
"Parshin is strong candidate; and he could compete, in particular, with those currently in power. He could in fact fight for the seat of the Governor," said Nikita Kantamirov, another protestor, the chairman of audit committee of the Volzhskiy City Committee of the CPRF.
