In Makhachkala, police release all detained believers

Aisha Selimkhanova, an activist of the DRPO "Pravozaschita", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that all the mosque-goers detained at night on July 23 in Hungarian Fighters Street had been released.

Aisha Selimkhanova has outlined the chronology of events related to the detention of the believers: "On July 22, 2014, about 12:00 p.m., young people, who were near the mosque, located in Hungarian Fighters Street, were detained. They were all taken to the Sovietskiy ROVD."

"We were told at the Prosecutor's Office of the Sovietskiy District that the detention was in performance of the instruction of the leadership to conduct inspections at mosques. My question about why just certain mosques were checked and what criteria were used to detain people, received no clear answer," said Selimkhanova.

According to her story, after a repeated call to the ROVD, she was told that "these persons are checked for involvement in earlier committed crimes" and was asked "not to interfere with their work."

After some time, all the detainees were released, said Selimkhanova; and the Sovietskiy ROVD of the capital of Dagestan has confirmed this information.
