Georgia: Dashgyn Agalarov, detained at request of Azerbaijani GPO, released
Georgia has released Dashgyn Agalarov, a member of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) of Azerbaijan, who was earlier detained at the request of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of his country. The activist himself informed about it.
A source from Georgian law enforcement bodies told the "Caucasian Knot" that Agalarov was detained in early March, when he entered Georgia from Turkey. The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) did it at the request of the Azerbaijani GPO, which accused him of tax evasion.
However, Agalarov told the Azerbaijani edition "modern.az" that he now is at large.
Let us remind you that Georgian rights defenders demanded to provide political asylum in Georgia to Dashgyn Agalarov, believing that the real reason for his persecution was in his active oppositional activities.
