In Kabardino-Balkaria, Court arrests Murad Pshikhachev

The Baksan Court has announced the pre-trial restriction measure in the form of taking into custody against Murad Pshikhachev, a resident of Baksan, suspected of possessing weapons. This was reported by advocate Aralbek Dumanishev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Murad Pshikhachev was detained on April 22. According to the advocate, a grenade and drugs were planted to the detainee, and he was beaten and tortured with electric current.

On April 24, the detainee signed a waiver of his advocate. Aralbek Dumanishev believes his client did that under pressure. According to the advocate, policemen forced himself out of the OVD (Interior Division), where his client was kept, and stole his voice recorder.

"As far as I know, Murad Pshikhachev admitted his guilt under Part 1 of Article 222 (weapon). Today, the Baksan Court has arrested him for a month," Aralbek Dumanishev has said.

According to the advocate, on April 23, he called an ambulance to the Baksan OVD, and doctors detected injuries on the Murad Pshikhachev's body.

The advocate has explained that in his complaints filed to the Prosecutor's Office and the Investigating Department for Kabardino-Balkaria of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), he complained not about the actions of Baksan policemen, but about the actions of staff members of the Centre for Combating Extremism, who came from Nalchik.
