Complaint about violation of Tamerlan Eskerkhanov's rights filed to ECtHR

Lawyers of the "Committee against Torture" have sent to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) a complaint about violation of the Tamerlan Eskerkhanov's right to effective investigation and effective remedy. Tamerlan Eskerkhanov is a defendant in the criminal case of the murder of Boris Nemtsov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 24, 2015, at the Basmanny Court of Moscow, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov complained about torture used to "knock out" his confession and filed a motion to restrict access to him of unauthorized people at the courthouse.

The "Committee against Torture", which the Moscow office was contacted for legal aid by Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Zaur Dadaev, defendants in the case of the Boris Nemtsov's murder, reported on its website that "the investigator just superficially checked the situation" at the Tamerlan Eskerkhanov's complaint about torture.

According to the human rights defenders, at once several articles of the European Convention were violated with regard to the Tamerlan Eskerkhanov's rights to effective investigation and to effective remedy.

Let us remind you that in October 2015, the Basmanny Court of Moscow found no reason to grant the complaint filed by the Tamerlan Eskerkhanov's defence to recognize unlawful the actions of the investigator who refused to open a criminal case on use of physical violence.
