Gukovo miners suspend hunger strike

Today, during a rally in the town of Gukovo, which brought together 170 participants, a resolution was adopted to suspend the hunger strike of miners of the "Kingcoal" group of companies due to the deterioration of protesters' health.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 22 miners of the "Kingcoal" group went on hunger strike in Gukovo, demanding repayment of 300-million salary debt and issuance of the rational coal. Each of the miners was hunger-striking at home, but they held regular protest actions.

Today, Gukovo hosted another picket of "Kingcoal" workers, who demanded from the authorities a complete repayment of salary debts, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to its organizers, the picket was about 170 people strong. They adopted, by a majority vote, a resolution to suspend the hunger strike "due to the deteriorating state of health of the hunger-strikers." The protesters said that they "do not stop the action, but only suspended it, to give people some rest," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports from Gukovo.
