Court attaches questioning of witnesses of Zhalaudi Geriev's kidnapping to case materials

In Chechnya, the today's court hearing on the appeal filed against the sentence to Zhalaudi Geriev, a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, has been started with the examination of the investigators' resolution on refusal to initiate a criminal case at the complaint filed by the journalist about use of violence against him. The court has also granted the defence's motion to attach to the case materials the advocate's questioning of four witnesses to the Zhalaudi Geriev's kidnapping.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 15, the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya started to consider the complaint filed against the verdict to Zhalaudi Geriev, pronounced by the Shali District Court on September 5.

Zhalaudi Geriev was sentenced to three years of imprisonment on the charge of possession of marijuana. At the first instance court, he denied the investigators' version and said that he had confessed under pressure.

The judge has proposed to start examination of the resolution issued by investigators of the Kurchaloi District on refusal to initiate a criminal case at the complaint filed by Zhalaudi Geriev about use of violence against him. Then, the court started to examine the investigators' resolution.

Advocate Alaudi Musaev has filed a motion to attach to the case materials the advocate's questioning of four witnesses to the Zhalaudi Geriev's kidnapping, and the court has granted the motion.
