Advocate claims violation of journalist Aziz Orudjev's rights
Aziz Orudjev (Orujov), Director of the "Kanal-13", an online TV Channel, kept at the Baku SIZO (pre-trial prison) is refused in visits and telephone conversations with her family members. This has been reported by advocate Javad Javadov. He intends to file a complaint about the above refusal.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the journalist was accused of illegal entrepreneurship activities with large income and abuse of official powers, which entailed grave consequences. On June 1, the court arrested him for four months. On June 3, the office of the online TV Channel and the Aziz Orudjev's apartment were searched.
The journalist faces up to seven years of imprisonment. Aziz Orudjev is included in the list of political prisoners of the Azerbaijani Centre for the Protection of Political Prisoners.
"Since on June 2, the day of his placement to the SIZO, Aziz Orudjev is deprived in violation of the law of visits and telephone conversations with his family members," stated the advocate.
According to him, the SIZO administration reported that the ban on visits and telephone conversations had been introduced by the investigating body and recommended to contact the Prosecutor's Office.
The advocate has also added that Aziz Orudjev keeps cheerfulness and rejects the accusations.
According to the law, a prisoner has the right to call his family members twice a day for 15 minutes and meet them once a week, advocate Yalchin Imanov explained.
