Hotline launched for reporting on Russian children in Syria and Iraq

More than 200 applications from relatives of the children brought to Iraq and Syria were transferred from Chechnya to the federal commission in charge of returning children from warfare areas.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the authorities of the Russian Federation are trying to return, from the Middle East, the children who had been taken to Syria and Iraq by their parents who joined terrorists. On September 14, an eight-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy from Chechen families were brought from Baghdad to Moscow, and then to Grozny.

In order to collect information about Russian children in Iraq and Syria, a telephone hotline has been launched, Anna Kuznetsova, the Children’s Ombudsperson in Russia, has reported today; the number is 8 (495) 221-70-65.

"Experts are ready to explain what information is needed about a child to get into our database," the TASS quotes Ms Kuznetsova as saying.

According to her story, now, the database of the commission contains data on 445 children who had been taken out of Russia to the Middle East or born in the warfare area by Russian natives.

"The main part of the database is made up by children from 4 to 9 years old, namely, 54%. About 27.5% are children under three years old, and 9% of them were born in ‘hot spots’," the RT quotes the Children’s Ombudsperson.
