Dagestan starts mass wolf shooting
In the Tarumovka, Kizlyar and Lak Districts of Dagestan, shooting of wolves is underway after mass complaints of farmers.
Farmers and local residents complained that in the above districts, wild animals more and more often attack farms, reported the Dagestani Ministry for Natural Resources and Ecology.
According to its information, the reduction in the number of wolves and jackals helps prevent the spread of diseases and protect people from animals' attacks.
Officials from the Dagestani Ministry for Natural Resources have also mentioned that in 2015, the damage to the Dagestani agricultural lands from wolves amounted to about 33 million roubles.
