Detentions
Last week, in the outskirts of the regional centre of Kurchaloi in Chechnya, Apti Gardanov, a resident of Ingushetia, was detained while selling rounds to a pistol. The man sold 320 rounds to a field investigator who acted as a buyer and was detained while taking the money. On January 31, Apti Gardanov was arrested.
Kidnappings
At night on February 1, in Makhachkala, unidentified people tried to kidnap a son of Nigmatulla Radjabov, the Imam of a Salafi mosque. According to the Imam, prior to a kidnapping attempt, his son went on a run, since he was preparing for a competition. A record from a video surveillance camera shows how several people got out of a car, stopped the young man and talked to him about something, presumably urging him to get into their car. Then they tried to force the young man into their car, but he managed to escape. According to Nigmatulla Radjabov, the people involved in the incident showed his son their IDs of law enforcers.
