POC reports detention conditions of Ingush activists in Nalchik

Arrested Ingush activists do not complain about the detention conditions in Nalchik, reported members of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Kabardino-Balkaria who visited them today. Advocates of the protest leaders complained about the violation of their clients' rights during searches and at trial.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 3, protest leaders Akhmed Barakhoev, Musa Malsagov, and Barakh Chemurziev were arrested for 10 days.

On March 26, residents of Ingushetia continued a rally in Magas without a sanction from the authorities. There were clashes between protesters and law enforcers, and ten law enforcers were injured.

There is no medical officer in the special detention centre where Elder Akhmed Barakhoev is being kept, notes his advocate Fatima Urusova. She has also added that Akhmed Barakhoev "experiences what is happening with courage and restraint."

Advocates were not allowed to visit Akhmed Barakhoev, Barakh Chemurziev, the chairman of the movement "Support of Ingushetia", and Musa Malsagov, the co-chairman of the World Congress of the Ingush People, and that was a violation, advocate Magomed Ababukarov stated.

None of the arrested activists has yet complained about the conditions of detention, noted Adam Medaliev and Zaur Shakuev, members of the POC of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).
