Court in Egypt leaves Ingush students in custody
The arrest of four Ingush students accused of extremism in Egypt has been extended by 15 days, their relatives have informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 9, 2019, the Ingush students arrested in Egypt were charged with extremism, espionage and links with the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court. On April 24, their relatives reported deterioration of students' health after a long hunger strike. Ingush officials went to Egypt for holding talks about their return to Russia.
Five young people from Ingushetia were detained in August 2018 in Egypt. The fate of one of them, Khizir Dugiev, is still unknown: the information that he was in a Cairo prison was not confirmed.
The hunger strike of four arrested students with a demand to release them from custody was fruitless, said Khadishat Pugoeva, the wife of one of the detainees.
Students' relatives were not allowed to be present at the court session, the "Ingushetia" Internet medium quotes Ms Pugoeva as saying.
