Condemnation of father with many children contradicts Chechen traditions
The public condemnation of Aslanbek Yusupov, a father of many children, who complained about his difficult living conditions, contradicts the Chechen traditions, local residents comment on a TV story which continues the trend to condemn persons voicing complaints.
The "Grozny" TV Channel showed a story with condemnation of Aslanbek Yusupov, a resident of the village of Novye Atagi. The father of 10 children is exempted from utility bills, receives a disability pension and other benefits, as well as support from the Kadyrov Foundation, but still complains about difficult living conditions, authors of the TV story reproach Aslanbek Yusupov.
The Chechen adates have never envisioned a head of the family being publicly dishonoured, says Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations. He has also noted that poverty in Chechen families is largely a result of parents' unemployment.
According to the Chechen adates, no public discussion of a family's situation is allowed, confirms historian and political analyst Ruslan Martagov.
The Chechen traditions, "to choose words carefully, do not welcome" any public discussion of a family's situation, human rights defender Aset Malsagova also notes.
