Authorities of South Ossetia let residents of Leningor District to be treated in Georgia
The Security Council of South Ossetia let residents of the Leningor District to go to Georgia through the "Razdakhan" checkpoint to receive medical care and pensions.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 9, South Ossetia closed the border with Georgia for an indefinite period. The escalation of tension by the Tbilisi authorities was mentioned as the reason for the closure of the border checkpoints. On October 31, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, Georgian Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, claimed that closure of the border violated the rights of residents of the border village of Akhalgori.
Earlier, the Georgian authorities have stated that Margarita Martiashvili, a resident of Akhalgori, died in a clinic in Tskhinvali without receiving qualified medical care in Tbilisi.
The Security Council of South Ossetia has opened the "Razdakhan" checkpoint on the border with Georgia to let residents of the Leningor District who do not have South-Ossetian and Russian citizenships and who need medical emergency or high-tech assistance not provided in South Ossetia to go to Georgia.
