Tbilisi activists express support to family of deceased teen

Parents of the young people who perished in Georgia over the past three years have criticized law enforcement bodies in the context of the high-profile case of the schoolboy's suicide after interrogation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 17, a 15-year-old teenager died in Georgia; five days earlier, he tried to commit suicide. He was suspected of having sneaked into the private Green School at night, where he had studied for only a few months, and made inscriptions in the teacher's room and classrooms. The teenager was summoned for questioning as a witness, but later his relatives said that he was exposed to psychological pressure. A policewoman was accused of forcing the teen to testify.

A protest action was held near the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia in connection with the teenager's death. About 300 people took part in it, including activists of the civil opposition movements "Gabede", "Shetsvale" and "Sirtskhvilia". There were several clashes with policemen, but no one was detained.

The parents of seven young men, who perished in Georgia in 2016-2019, gathered in front of the parliament to express their solidarity with teenager's relatives. They have stated that the criminal cases of their children's deaths have not been investigated and brought to the court.
