Relatives report on hunger strike of Azerbaijani journalist Ragimov in colony

Ikram Ragimov, the editor-in-chief of the "Realliq.info" website, is on his dry hunger strike in protest against the pressure on him at the Azerbaijani colony, his relatives stated on December 30.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 12, 2019, a court in Baku found Ikram Ragimov guilty of extortion and sentenced him to 5.5 years of imprisonment. On August 7, he went on a hunger strike, demanding an objective consideration of the appeal.

Now, since December 28, Ikram Ragimov, the editor-in-chief of the "Realliq.info" website, has been on a dry hunger strike in Colony No. 10 of the Azerbaijani Penitentiary Service, the "Turan" News Agency reported on December 30.

His relatives suggest that the dry hunger strike is because of the pressure exerted on him in this colony, the "Turan" adds.

Ikram Ragimov was transferred to Colony No. 10 after the end of the trial at the Supreme Court, which denied his complained against the verdict, the "Contact.az" reported on December 30, adding, with reference to his relatives, without specifying the details, that the journalist faced pressure immediately upon his arrival at the colony.
