Aslan Bzhaniya claims being poisoned with dimethylmercury
Aslan Bzhaniya, the leader of the Abkhaz opposition, is ready to present to the Prosecutor's Office the evidence of his poisoning before the presidential election in 2019. Earlier, the General Prosecutor's of Abkhazia questioned the version about the poisoning of the politician.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Abkhazia, the nomination period for presidential candidates began on January 22 and will last until February 11. Only Leonid Dzapshba, the leader of the "Akzaara" Party, confirmed his participation in the presidential election.
Aslan Bzhaniya, a member of the Abkhazian parliament and the opposition leader, claimed that he was poisoned last spring on the eve of the presidential election in the republic. According to the oppositional MP, he can confirm the fact of poisoning by experts' conclusions issued by the Munich laboratory and the Warsaw laboratory. "There was an external toxic action, and moreover, it was repeated. The type of toxic charge is dimethylmercury," announced Aslan Bzhaniya as quoted by the TASS on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, earlier, the General Prosecutor's Office of Abkhazia has rejected the version of the Aslan Bzhaniya's poisoning. In its statement, the Abkhazian General Prosecutor's Office suggested that Aslan Bzhaniya and his supporters did not have any evidence confirming the fact of his deliberate poisoning.
