Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of 23 shelling attacks

The positions of the Azerbaijani troops were subjected to shelling attacks, including in the Gadabay District, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reports today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 30, Azerbaijan reported shelling attacks on its border villages and registered 21 violations of the ceasefire from the Armenian side within 24 hours.

"Units of the armed forces of Armenia 23 times violated the ceasefire in various directions of the front within 24 hours," the Azerbaijani MoD reports today.

According to the Azerbaijani side, the positions of the Azerbaijani troops at the nameless heights in the Gadabay District were shelled.

As at 10:00 a.m. Moscow time on today, the Ministries of Defence of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not yet posted on their official websites any comments on the statement released by the Azerbaijani MoD.

After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties to the conflict agreed on a ceasefire, but the confrontation did not stop. In 2019, Azerbaijan registered a period of almost complete ceasefire on the front, which lasted about a month, and Nagorno-Karabakh announced the lowest number of shelling attacks on its positions within 10 years.
