Azerbaijan registers 21 shelling attacks within 24 hours

The positions of the Azerbaijani troops have been shelled, including from heavy machine guns, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 3, Azerbaijan also claimed machine gun shelling attacks in the conflict zone and registered 22 ceasefire violations within 24 hours.

"Units of the armed forces of Armenia used heavy machine guns and 21 times violated the ceasefire in various directions of the front within 24 hours," the Azerbaijani MoD reports today on its official website.

According to the Azerbaijani MoD, the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the village of Geyali in the Gadabay District were shelled.

As at 8:30 a.m. Moscow time on today, the Ministries of Defence of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have not yet posted on their official websites any comments on the statement released by the Azerbaijani MoD.

After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties to the conflict agreed on a ceasefire, but the confrontation did not stop. In 2019, Azerbaijan registered a period of almost complete ceasefire on the front, which lasted about a month, and Nagorno-Karabakh announced the lowest number of shelling attacks on its positions within 10 years.
