Azerbaijan fixes 22 shelling attacks on the frontline

Positions of the Azerbaijani Army were shelled on the border with Armenia and in the Karabakh conflict zone, the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on February 7, Azerbaijan reported 23 ceasefire violations by the Armenian party.

"During the past 24 hours, units of the Armenian Armed Forces violated the ceasefire in various sections of the frontline for 22 times," the Azerbaijani MoD has stated today.

The shelling was delivered both from the territory of Armenia, and from the territories controlled by the authorities of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), says the MoD's statement.

As of 9:39 a.m. Moscow time on February 8, the websites of the MoDs of the NKR and Armenia posted no comments on the above statement.

After the escalation of the Karabakh conflict in April 2016, the parties to the conflict agreed on a ceasefire, but the confrontation did not stop. In 2019, Azerbaijan registered a period of almost complete ceasefire on the front, which lasted about a month, and Nagorno-Karabakh announced the lowest number of shelling attacks on its positions within 10 years.
