Today, a hunger-strike action in protest against expulsion of the "Azadlyg" newspaper out of its own office was launched by the heads of six mass media of Azerbaijan, namely: Ganimat Zakhidov ("Azadlyg"), Mekhman Aliev (director of the "Turan" Information Agency), Rauf Arifoglu ("Yeni Musavat"), Shakir Gabiloglu ("Novoye Vremya"), Fikret Faramazoglu ("24 hours"), and Shakhbaz Khuduoglu (director of the "Chap Yevi" Publishers). Shakir Gabiloglu, editor-in-chief of the "Novoye Vremya" (New Times), told the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" that the aim of the action is to attract the attention of broad Azerbaijani and international community to the problems of mass media in Azerbaijan. Thus, the hunger-strike action was taken over by journalists of Azerbaijan from the activists of the "Azadlyg" Block parties.

We remind you that the hunger-strike action is held by media representatives against the attempts to move the "Azadlyg" newspaper and other media out of their building.
