Tbilisi: arrest of investigator in teenager's suicide case extended

A court in Tbilisi has left Marianna Choloyan, a police investigator, accused of forcing a 15-year-old teenager to testify, after which he committed suicide, in custody. Ms Choloyan refuses to plead guilty.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2019, the court arrested Choloyan under the case of bringing the teenager to suicide.

On December 17, 2019, a 15-year-old teenager died in Georgia after an attempt to commit suicide. He was suspected of having sneaked into the school at night, where he had studied for several months, and left inscriptions in the classrooms. The teenager was summoned for questioning as a witness. His relatives asserted that he was under psychological pressure.

There is a possibility that Choloyan will put pressure on minors, try to destroy the evidence and commit a new crime, the "News-Georgia" quotes the position of the prosecution.

Let us remind you that after the teen's suicide, several protests took place in Tbilisi, where protesters insisted that the authorities should be held accountable for what happened.
