Residents of Chechnya associate absence of salary growth with employers' tricks
Real salaries and wages in Chechnya are lower than those declared, local residents assert amid a report of the "Chechenstat" about the growth of local citizens' earnings.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the residents of Chechnya questioned the "Chechenstat" report that in 2019 the average salary in the republic went up by 6% and reached 27,600 roubles. Employers mostly offer much less salaries, while there were no surpluses to last year's salaries last year, they assert.
In Chechnya, employers promise their future employees salaries that exceed the real payments, local residents told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. This situation, in particular, was faced by Movsar, an employee of a motor enterprise in Grozny. "When I got a job, they promised me a salary of 25,000 [roubles per month]. Today, I really get a little more than 21,000 in hand," Movsar has complained.
Sometimes, employers fail to pay the promised amounts, and persuade their employees to wait, Umar, a Grozny resident, said. "Last year, I worked at a large construction site in Grozny. The work was hard, with one day-off in two weeks. They promised up to 40,000 roubles per month, but I got nothing. They didn't pay for more than two months and promised to pay off later. When I demanded my wages, the team leader immediately offered me to quit, if I had no desire to wait a bit," the man said.
