36 families isolated in Karabakh village due to coronavirus

About 170 people live in the village of Mirik, which was closed for quarantine, because a villager is sick with coronavirus. The villagers said that they observe the self-isolation regime. All the vehicles entering the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) from Armenia are disinfected.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 7, the NKR confirmed the first coronavirus infection case in a local resident who had returned from Armenia.

The number of people who could contact the Mirik villager, whose coronavirus was confirmed, is 20.

On April 7, Grigory Martirosyan, the State Minister of the NKR, stated that the villagers would be provided with everything they need, including foodstuffs.

Artyom Stepanyan, the head of the Mirik community, said that the village has electricity, water, the Internet and mobile communications, and a retail outlet. However, the road from the central highway to the village is hardly passable for cars. Mirik villagers are mainly engaged in animal husbandry and agriculture.

Mr Stepanyan has added that "the village is completely isolated; no one comes and leaves."

He has also noted that the administration of Kashatag District has distributed all the necessary protective means among all villagers – medical masks, gloves and disinfectants.
