General Prosecutor's Office to investigate beating of advocate's relatives in Armenia
On April 26, the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia reported a launch of an investigation into a criminal case on a hooligan attack on relatives of advocate Seda Safaryan. The advocate herself associated the incident with her professional activities.
Seda Safaryan filed a complaint to the police about an attack on her relatives. The advocate, who represents victims in the "March 1" case, believes that the incident is related to her professional activities, the "News-Armenia" reports.
A criminal case has been instituted to investigate the incident with relatives of advocate Seda Safaryan, reports Gor Abramyan, the advisor to the General Prosecutor of Armenia.
"The investigation is underway to reveal the details of the incident, and the main suspects have been identified ... However, if the beatings and provocation have a political motive, it is necessary to identify not only the criminals, but also their patrons," said Gayane Abramyan, an MP from the ruling "My Step" block, as quoted by the "Epress".
At night on April 25, a daughter, a daughter's husband and his parents, and a sister of advocate Seda Safaryan were attacked in the Mush District of Yerevan. Five or six persons were quarrelling loudly outside, and the husband of the advocate's daughter came out and tried to find out what was happening. He was attacked and beaten. After that, female members of his family and neighbours intervened in the fight and were also beaten, the "Epress" reported with reference to political analyst Stepan Safaryan, a brother of advocate Seda Safaryan.
