In Dagestan, Gubden residents report about law enforcers' raids

For the second time after a conflict in Manas, law enforcers are conducting a raid with visits to every house and yard in the Dagestan village of Gubden, local residents report.

The law enforcers are conducting a raid by visiting houses of residents of the Gubden village in the Karabudakhkent District, where soldiers have arrived today, journalist Ruslan Kurbanov reports. "They are walking around the whole village. They are entering every house in the village and conducting checks. There is a version that the raid is the retaliation for the confrontation between the residents of Gubden and the law enforcers in Manas which occurred about a month ago," Ruslan Kurbanov wrote.

On June 9, residents of the Karabudakhkent District gathered near the village of Manas after the police used force and detained two residents of the village of Gurbuki. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), one of the detainees rudely responded to a policeman's request to produce an ID and provoked a conflict. The detainees were released after the court had fined them for violating the self-isolation regime.

  • Lawyers doubt prospect of bills banning religious clothes

The bills that intend to ban wearing religious clothing, including niqabs, in public places are causing a split in the society, which is especially negative amid the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. Religious clothes are not widespread in the country, this issue is not relevant, therefore the bills to ban them will not be adopted, lawyers believe.
