Aliev ordered to strengthen control over the observance of human rights in Azerbaijan

Ilkham Aliev, President of Azerbaijan, has signed a decree on approving the National Action Plan on the protection of human rights in the country, reports "Bakililar.AZ".

Such tasks are being defined for the coming years as bringing the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan into full conformance with international standards on human rights, development and implementation of a new strategy of cooperation with international organizations, improvement of the activity of state agencies from the viewpoint of observing human rights, encouragement of scientific analysis works, expansion of legal education, development of links between the state and the civil society.

Ilkham Aliev has also signed an order to compile a third periodic report on the fulfillment of obligations undertaken by Azerbaijan under the UN convention against "Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment ", reports "Azeri-Press".
