Prosecutor's office is investigating death of Russian soldier in Georgia

The Military Prosecutor's Office of the North-Caucasian Regional Command ("SKVO") is undertaking investigatory actions in relation to the fact of death of a Russian serviceman at the Russian military base in Akhalkalaki, Georgia. The RIA "Novosti" is reporting the fact with a reference to Andrei Bobrun, Head of the Information and Public Relations Service of the SKVO of the Russian Ministry of Defence.

"The Military Prosecutor's Office is holding inquest into the soldier's death. According to preliminary data, his death was a result of careless arms handling. However, the military investigators are examining other versions of the accident," Mr. Bobrun said.

We remind you that earlier the Georgian TV Company "Imedia" has reported that Alexei Dmitriev, a Russian serviceman at the 62nd Military Base in Akhalkalaki (Georgia), had committed suicide. According to the Company, the incident took place at night of January 3, when Dmitriev was on duty.
