Nikol Pashinyan announces three-day mourning for deceased in Nagorno-Karabakh

On December 19, on the fortieth day after the end of the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh, a three-day mourning for the deceased will begin in Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announces.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 16, Nikol Pashinyan reported that about 2400 Armenian soldiers were killed and hundreds others were missed in action during the autumn battles in Nagorno-Karabakh. On December 12, the Ministry of Defence of Karabakh reported about 1815 deceased soldiers of the Defence Army.

On December 3, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan announced that 2783 soldiers were killed in the hostilities. According to the calculations run by Grant Mikaelyan, a blogger of the "Caucasian Knot", the losses of both sides are approximately equal, and the total death toll is up to 10,300.

Nikol Pashinyan has announced that on December 19, Yerevan will host the "Procession of Memory": people will march from Republic Square to the Yerablur Military Pantheon, the "Sputnik Armenia" reports.

Furthermore, a group of prisoners of war, whose identities have been confirmed by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Azerbaijan, is expected to return soon, the "Kommersant" reports.
