Constitutional Court of Chechnya intends to demand higher compensations to victims of political repressions

The Judges of the Constitutional Court of Chechnya have addressed the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation with a request to bring a bill to the RF State Duma stipulating an increase of monetary compensations to the citizens of the Republic who have become victims of political repressions.

On January 30, this news was announced in Grozny by Sheikh-Ahmed Abdurakhmanov, Acting Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Chechnya. In his opinion, the compensation sum at a rate of ten thousand roubles, paid out now to the victims of 1944 deportation, is perceived as an insult by many residents of the Republic.

"Out of all repressed Russian nations only the Chechen people have not received the privileges stipulated by the law," Mr. Abdurakhmanov has declared.
