Kadyrov has won suit to "Kommersant"

Ramzan Kadyrov, head of Chechnya's government, has won his suit lodged against the "Kommersant" newspaper. The publication in the "Kommersant" (issue dated July 15, 2006) entitled "Commandante of Chechnya" has been recognized to discredit the honour and dignity of the prime minister of the Chechen republic," advocate Alexei Parshin, who represented Mr. Kadyrov's interests has reported.

The "Caucasian Knot has already informed that Mr. Aseyev told in his interview to the newspaper that "Kadyrov's place is not in the prime-minister's armchair but in the electric chair," that his power "is kept by federal bayonets" and "if federals leave, Kadyrov will have problems." Besides, Aseyev had stated that the title of the Hero of Russia awarded to Kadyrov is "a taint and shame for everybody decorated with this order."

In the opinion of Vissarion Aseyev, who represents in North Ossetia the "United Civil Front" organization, the decision of the court passed in favour of Kadyrov was "quite expected."

Mr. Aseyev believes that this decision of the court deprives the society of the right to express one's opinion on the people who are public figures of the authorities.
