Council of Europe to hear report on Politkovskaya

Mr. Rene Van der Linden, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), does not exclude, that a report will be prepared under the auspice of the Council of Europe on the murder of Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya. Today, he has informed about it following the results of his meeting with Boris Gryzlov, speaker of the State Duma.

Mr. Van der Linden has also noted that he "is going to visit the "Novaya Gazeta" newspaper, where Politkovskaya had worked, as a sign of solidarity with the newspaper journalists." According to ITAR-TASS, he called Russian authorities "to hold the most thorough investigation and bring those guilty of the journalist's murder to justice."

We remind you that Anna Politkovskaya, a "Novaya Gazeta" journalist, who was shot dead on October 7 in Moscow, was known, first of all, for her materials on Chechnya and North Caucasus.
