Flaws of Armenian opposition minimize protests' chances of success

The format of protests in Armenia is no threat to the Armenian authorities – the opposition is weakened by internal contradictions and is unable to offer any constructive ideas for overcoming the crisis. If Nikol Pashinyan's opponents fail to change this format, protests will fade away by themselves, analysts believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 25, opponents of the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, set up a tent camp near the building of the Armenian Parliament. More than 100 protesters kept staying there on Friday, despite the worsening weather.

The activists protesting in Bagramyan Avenue can hardly be treated as a full-fledged opposition, while they only demand Pashinyan's resignation, Naira Airumyan, an editor of the "Lragir.am", believes.

The protest activeness goes up and down under the influence of various factors, Armen Vardanyan, a political analyst, has noted, naming the lack of creativity and consistency in opposition's actions as a weakening factor of protests.

Besides, the technologies of the current opposition are reproducing the technologies of Pashinyan himself, who came to power in the wake of mass protests in 2018, but the "literal" repetition of already used technologies fails bringing the same fruit.
