After relatives' complaints, Azerbaijani activist Salaev receives medical help in colony
Alizamin Salaev, an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), whose relatives complained about non-provision of medical care in the colony, was examined by doctors who prescribed some treatment. After that, he went on the mend, his son has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Alizamin Salaev, a PFPA member, who is serving his term on charges of libel and insult after he had spread a video criticizing a policeman in social networks, reported beatings in the colony after he had gone on a hunger strike in solidarity with Tofig Yagublu. In September 2020, his son reported that his father has to stop his hunger strike because of physical pressure on him in the colony.
On April 5, Ogtai Salaev, Alizamin's son, said that his father had received medical care, was prescribed treatment and had his health condition improved.
The PFPA believes that Salaev is being persecuted for political reasons. "Alizamin Salaev is one of the most active members of our party in the regions ... In 2019, he was arrested after an interview on the 'Azad soz' YouTube channel, in which he spoke about corruption in the Salyan District ... For the third time he was arrested in April for criticizing the persecution of the journalist, Sevindj Osmangyzy in social networks," Ilkham Gusein, a member of the PFPA's Presidium, has explained.
Let us remind you that Ali Kerimli, the PFPA leader, and Alizamin Salaev's son stated that the activist was tortured after detention. Human rights defenders announced Alizamin Salaev to be a political prisoner.
