Power agents have surrounded the city of Karachaevsk in Karachayevo-Cherkessia
On the eve of election of the Mayor of Karachaevsk, the law enforcement bodies of Karachayevo-Cherkessia have organized a strengthened power order protection.
All the motor transport is examined at the entries to the city. In Karachaevsk proper, the law enforcement bodies are at strengthened service in the streets and, especially, at the polling stations. The power servants say that the pre-election campaign in Karachaevsk is heated up to the limit, therefore, it is necessary to cut short any provocations. The voting should take place tomorrow, on March 11.
The opponents in the run for the mayor's chair are Sapar Laipanov, the current mayor, and a businessman-pharmacist Magomet Botashev. They have equal chances to head the city administration, as the political and financial elites that are participating in the pre-election race have halved.
