Governor of Stavropol Territory is ready to resign
Alexander Chernogorov, governor of Stavropol Territory, has declared that for the sake of quietness and peace in the region he is ready to leave his post of the head of the Territory.
"If the basic issue of peace and quietness is at stake, not to let criminals seize power, I'm ready to sacrifice myself and my crew," the "Interfax-South" Agency is quoting Alexander Chernogorov.
The head of the region thinks that he should not have mixed with politics, but dealt only with the problems of the Territory. "In due time, I quitted politics, and it was OK," Mr. Chernogorov has noted.
In the opinion of the governor, the situation with the outcomes of the elections "is nothing else but populism." "People will change their mind tomorrow, and everybody should be responsible for the present choice, since in fact, except for criticism, nothing has been done," governor Chernogorov has noted.
The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that by the outcomes of Sunday's elections to the Parliament of Stavropol Territory, the "Yedinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) party, the list of which was headed by Chernogorov, took the second place after the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) party.
Boris Gryzlov, leader of the "Yedinaya Rossiya" and chairman of the State Duma, stated thereafter that Chernogorov should retire. In Mr. Gryzlov's opinion, "with these result in place" of the elections to the local Parliament, the governor of Stavropol Territory "should not go on working."
