Maiskiy settlement of Ingush refugees to be disbanded in North Ossetia

According to the enacted court ruling, the remaining families who are fundamentally refusing to quit their housing facilities will be forced out of the spontaneous settlement of Maiskiy in North Ossetia, where the victims of the Ossetian-Ingush conflict have been living for 13 years.

The news was announced yesterday, on March 15, by Victor Anpilogov, deputy plenipotentiary representative in the South Federal District (SFD), who held a meeting in North Ossetia with representatives of the newly created commission for rendering assistance to forced resettlers in their removal from the spontaneous settlement of Maiskiy; the commission is headed by the first vice-premier Ermak Dzansolov.

In the words of Mr. Anpilogov, as a result of the fortnight-long work of the interdepartmental commission, created for peaceful removal of the people, they managed to move only 2 families out of the settlement. 17 families still remain in the settlement, which was cut off from gas and electricity for millions-worth indebtedness and which has no roads and communication lines.
