Over 600 Russians return from Azerbaijan through corridor in Dagestan in two days
On May 17-18, a total of 639 Russian citizens, who had to stay in Azerbaijan due to the pandemic, returned to their homeland through the customs checkpoint in Dagestan.
Because of coronavirus, the Azerbaijani-Russian border has been closed since March 18, 2020.
Enrik Muslimov, Acting Minister for National Policy and Religious Matters of Dagestan, said that among those who returned from Azerbaijan, 50 persons live in Dagestan, the rest are residents of other regions who will soon be able to get home.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported about the problems of Azerbaijanis wishing to return from Russia to their homeland. They were placed into a children's camp after the camp near the village of Kullar was disbanded with the onset of cold weather. Earlier, groups of Azerbaijani citizens regularly crossed the land border, but there were no such groups in February and March this year. On April 3, a border crossing was organized for 132 people.
After the closure of the borders due to the coronavirus, over 7000 Azerbaijanis were taken from Russia to Azerbaijan, the "Sputnik-Azerbaijan" reports with reference to the Azerbaijan State Committee for Working with the Diaspora.
