New EU project presented in Chechnya

On February 15, capital of Chechnya, the city of Grozny was the venue of an official presentation of a new EU project aimed to support the public health sphere and education in Chechnya and Ingushetia.

The aim of the program is to improve the qualification level of the workers of medicine and education of the two Republics, increase the quality of medical services to the population, and set up new workplaces. It is scheduled for two years and will be carried out together with the UNICEF Children's Fund and the World Health Organization.

Within the projects, more than 6000 workers of public health and education of Chechnya and Ingushetia will get a chance to have their qualification refreshed. The Chechen Republic will also open five information centres for the medical staff, receive medical equipment, consumables and 6 specialized ambulance cars. More than 60 topical classes will be equipped in local schools. The European Union will allocate 12.7 million euros for these aims. Already by this fall, they plan to consume about 40 percent of the total budget.
