Erdoğan associates creation of a military base in Azerbaijan with position of Russia

The condition for the appearance of a Turkish army base in Azerbaijan is the consultations of Ilham Aliev with Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan notes.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on June 15, the presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan signed the Shusha Declaration on Allied Relations. The declaration consolidates the results of the Karabakh war and formalizes the legal basis for a military alliance between the countries, Azerbaijani military experts emphasize. Armenian political analysts consider the document a demonstration of the increased role of Turkey in the region.

The creation of a base of the Turkish Armed Forces in Azerbaijan does not go beyond the Shusha Declaration on Allied Relations, and the issue may become a subject of discussion, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said on the air of the NTV Channel.

According to the Turkish President, “the priority issue now is to ensure security guarantees along the entire border of Azerbaijan,” the TASS reports.
