13 Georgian villagers detained for attacking policemen

Friends of a man detained for an administrative offense came to a police station in the Georgian village of Ureki. They insulted and attacked policemen. The offenders face up to seven years of imprisonment for attacking law enforcers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia reports today.

On the evening of June 24, in the resort village of Ureki, the police detained and took to the police station a 33-year-old man for petty hooliganism and failure to obey to a lawful request of the police, the Georgian police reports today.

“Later, friends of the detainee gathered near the building of the police station. They attacked the policemen and insulted them verbally and physically,” the “Report” quotes today the Georgian police as reporting.

As a result, 13 villagers were detained. For the attack on the policemen, the offenders face from four to seven years of imprisonment, the “Georgia News” reports with reference to the police.
