"Memorial": rights of detainees are breached in deportation camps of the Krasnodar Territory
Human rights defenders are concerned of detainment conditions in deportation camps of the Krasnodar Territory. The evidence of these facts is opening of a special page in the web-site of the International Historical-Enlightenment, Human Rights and Charitable Society "Memorial" (http://www.memo.ru/hr/discrim/ver1/index.htm)
In 2006, a total of 577 persons were placed into reception centres. Mainly, they were citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Georgia. As of beginning of 2007, 57 persons remained in the camps, of whom 16 have already been deported.
The press service of the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization (ANCO) "Novorossiysk Committee for Human Rights" asserts that human rights organizations are highly concerned of the detainment conditions in the camps. As of the moment of studying the situation in settlement Kopanskoj, people had no hot water, warm shower and in-door toilet. Private persons often took people to do some job. At first, people were kept in soldiers' tents warmed up by self-made stoves ("burzhuikas"), but after protest actions of the public, they were moves to heated trailers.
