Residents of flooded Kuban areas complain about scanty compensations
The compensations promised by authorities for the loss of property will fail to cover even a small part of the inflicted damage, the local residents interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" assert.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at least eight people fell victim to the flood in the Krasnodar Territory (also known as Kuban by the name of the main river). Local residents tell about the damaged furniture and flooded gardens.
The flood has affected a total of 1262 private households and 1548 pre-house territories. Overall, 368 people were evacuated; 62 persons were placed into temporary accommodation centres (TACs), the press service of the territorial administration said on July 7.
Nina Grigorievna, a pensioner, a resident of the village of Pyatigorskaya in Goryachy Klyuch, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that her old house was flooded up to the very roof; and she and her husband managed to get out of it before the arrival of high water.
She said that with her husband she is unable to cope with the flooding consequences. “Today (on July 7) a commission came; they said that people will receive 10,000 roubles for partial loss of their property; and 100,000 roubles per person for a complete loss thereof. This is not enough, of course,” the pensioner said.
Anastasia Trifonova, a resident of Djubga, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on July 7, a special commission visited her house, which was flooded up to the second level, and assessed the damage. “The compensation for a complete loss of property in the amount of 100,000 roubles is very little,” she said. According to Ms Trifonova, she has lost her property worth several million roubles.
