Four suspects of attacking journalists detained in Tbilisi
Four detainees in Tbilisi within the case of attacking journalists are charged with obstructing the work of media professionals, as well as with using insults and physical violence, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that by July 8, the total number of those accused of attacking journalists in Tbilisi had reached eight. A total of 25 persons were recognized as victims, including 19 media workers. On July 9, the total number of those arrested reached 12.
As a result of operative-search activities in Tbilisi, the Georgian MIA detained four more suspects within the case of attacking media workers on July 5, the Georgian “Channel One” has reported today with reference to the MIA.
According to investigators, the detainees obstructed journalists in their work, verbally insulted them, and also hit the journalists of the “Formula” and “Imedi” TV Channels. One of the detainees was charged with attacking the operator of the Georgian “Channel One”, the “Sputnik Georgia” has reported today with reference to the country's MIA.
